creativity, and art back into carnival.

Rosalind,
Just a note during your recovery period to thank you wholeheartedly
for accommodating with both elegance and grace our disparate
grandchildren in your band. They had a wonderful time, and our own
children and their spouses were more than impressed with the quality of the band
, and the overall arrangements to help the little ones fit in.
We ourselves just remained thunderstruck with the band each time we saw it, and
do repeat our admiration for your work and its obvious
success. May it continue to thrive!
Meanwhile you will probably be hearing directly from our son ,who is
coming to teach at the Vetmed School at UWI, about next year's chef
d'oeuvre.
Our warmest regards and thanks, Pat and Terry Glavin
Hi Rosalind:
It's been a while but you are always in my thoughts. How are you and the
family I hope everyone is in good health. My family is doing well and of course
it's Carnival time again. I always look for your web site. Last year I emailed
you but I think there was a problem with the email. Anyway, as usual your band
looks FABULOUS!!!!! they can't stop you. I love the theme and you will take it
home again this year. We will be coming the full week before Carnival so we will
stop in and say hello. Satchell is preparing for SAT exam in March so he's not
coming. My love to you and the family and we'll chat very soon. You are the best
have a wonderful evening.
Love, Angela& Urban
Ros,
I have decided that if I don't retire now, I may never get to do some of the
things I would still like to do before I'm too old to to them, but if I EVER get
the urge to get back into costume production and put to use all the innovative
techniques and methods I have learned from Sean DeFreitas, I will head straight
for your mas' camp.
Each year when I review your website I say to myself that you have outdone
yourself, and the next year you prove that your creativity has not reached its
peak and again, you do better than the prior year, without compromising the
basic roots of our culture.
How sad that Carnival as we know it is a thing of the past for adults, but what
a joy that you pass on to our children and grandchildren and continue to keep
alive, the true spirit of our carnival. The talented duo, Chris Santos and
Gregory Medina, do a superb job of interpreting your concepts - together you
make a fabulous team! Keep up the good work, I look forward to your 2005
presentation and as always, I'll be there to cheer you on and support your
continued efforts to keep our TRINI mas' alive!
Love and best wishes,

Dear Rosalind:
It is with great appreciation that I am writing this email. Your band
brings back very fond memories of what Carnival truly is all about. If we could
only get the adult bands to take this approach. My 15-year old son who is
American born, played mas with your band when he was 11 and 12. The costume was
so magnificent that we brought the costume back with us when he returned to New
York. He has never forgotten the experience. In fact he had to do a
presentation in school about his culture and he took his costume to school and
did such a wonderful presentation that it earned him an A+ along with the
curiousity of his teachers and all the children in his grade.
According to his homeroom teacher, it was the best and most original
presentation in the class. We have not been home in 2 years but we allows look
at your designs and nothing can beat them. Next year, my husband and 3 boys
hope to be in Trinidad for Carnival 2005 and we very much intend to participate
in your band on Carnival Monday. Your talent is outstanding and quite original.

I am a Trinidadian living in Houston, Texas. Checked your page, and I am
homesick. Great page. Keep up the good work.

Good day Mrs. Gabriel,
As an avid fan of local mas, I would like to personally congratulate you and
your team for the wonderful work you have been doing over the years, and
continue to do. Your band restores in me the fact that the mas is definitely
alive and well. It is very nice to see the young and young at heart out in full
costume on Carnival Monday. Believe me, it is a breath of fresh air from all
the mud and other mundane activities of Monday mas.
Again, I would like to wish you all the best for your band this Carnival
1999. One last thing, I would like to see the other children bands develop your
concept with the St. Mary’s Children’s Home. It is just marvelous.

Dear Auntie Rosalind,
It’s Soyini here. Right now I am at the University of Tampa in Florida. I was
pleased to discover the website for your band and happy to see how well my old
band has done at all the various competitions this year! Well, I just wanted to
wish you continued success in the future and I know you’ll always love producing
the mas for years to come. Take care.

Ms. Gabriel,
It is great to see your mas out on the internet again. And as usual my daughter
is going to take part in the festivities. I am just requesting to please hold a
spot in Dixieland for my daughter Jha’da Harris from New York. Thank you for
your time and co-operation.

Good morning Rosalind:
How are you and the family? Well, Carnival is very much in the air and the
sections are looking FABULOUS!!!!! I was checking each day for them and finally
it was worth the wait. I have already given you Band of the Year 2000. They
can’t touch you!!! Please register Satchell in the section ALL STARS.
I can’t wait for March to come home. Love to all/Angela

Hi Rosalind,
Great complements to you and the crew for the hard work you are putting into the
2000 line for Children’s Carnival. I’m in Hawaii and it’s great to look at the
costumes. I wish that my kids could experience this as I did as a child and
teenager in Trinidad. Feel free to e-mail me sometime.

Good day Rosalind Gabriel Mas Camp,
I’ve just perused all of the mas camp sites provided on Tidco’s site, your mas
presentation “Panorama” is to be applauded. The adult bands should take a cue
from your presentation this year, perhaps it would derail the regression that’s
so obvious. As I opened your images I thought to myself “That is Mas”. At
first sight the band looks like a multiple winner. I look forward to making
some stunning photographs of your mas band this year.

I have just visited your web site and am very impressed with your designs for
this year’s carnival. I’m a children’s carnival designer in the UK. I’m coming
to Trinidad for this year’s Carnival and am keen to make contact with leading
children’s designers with a view to working alongside makers to develop my
skills. Could I come and visit your Mas Camp.

I am an adult mas player, feeling home sick for carnival so I decided to look
at some of the Mas Bands one more time. I have never seen such a “Gorgeous
Band” in a long time. I have to tell my sister that Carnival is not quite
dead. She lives is St. Croix and is not on the net like I am so she does not
get to see all of the Mas. Thanks again for the great Mas.
Sincerely/Carol R
